BVI Amongst World’s Top 50 Cruise Ports of Call for 2015
Tortola Enjoyed the Second Largest Increase in Passenger Arrival
Friday, September 23, 2016, Tortola, BVI – Tortola was ranked one of the “World’s top 50 cruise ports
of call for 2015,” receiving the second largest increase in cruise passenger arrival for the year.
Dubbed as the destination to watch, the BVI continues to make great strides in the cruise industry with the newly enhanced cruise pier and the addition of their new Caribbean styled shopping center.
“Tortola in the British Virgin Islands enjoyed the second-largest increase (43%) – one which moved it into the Top 50 for the first time. It could expect further growth this year following the delayed opening of its new dock and terminal complex,” stated Tony Piesley, Cruise Insight Magazine.
The new cruise facility was officially opened on February 16th, 2016 featuring retail stores, restaurants and cafes, services and offices. Tortola Pier Park will house over 60 businesses, with 47 of these currently operational.
“We are very excited to have made the World’s Top 50 Cruise Ports of Call list for first time. We continue to grow and fine-tune this important BVI product, in hopes to facilitate sustainable growth for the Territory for years to come. We are poised and ready for this busy 2016/2017 season and look forward to continuing to welcome cruise passengers, residents and BVI visitors alike, while providing an exceptional shopping, dining and entertainment experience,” said Dona Regis, CEO, of Tortola Pier Park Ltd.

The new shopping center features internationally branded jewelry stores located in between designer boutiques, and independent retailers.
