15 January 2024 – The Territory welcomed the inaugural call of Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady to the cruise pier in Road Town, Tortola on Sunday 14th January 2024. Valiant Lady marks the first inaugural call of the year as well as being the first new cruise line to the Territory for 2024.
Valiant Lady is currently on a seven-night cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico with 2374 passengers and 1161 crew members onboard. The British Virgin Islands is the first destination on the ship’s Southeastern Caribbean Isles itinerary. After the vessel departs the Territory, she will visit Guadeloupe, Barbados, St. Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda before returning to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
A plaque was presented on behalf of the Government and people of the Virgin Islands by the Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Natalio Wheatley to Sir Richard Branson and the captain of the Valiant Lady, Captain Justin Lawes commemorating the vessel’s inaugural call to the Territory. The plaque and key exchange ceremony took place onboard the ship while it was docked at the Cruise Pier in Tortola.
