Ports Of Entry Operating Hours
This 244 meters of quayfront, with a depth of 6.7 meters alongside, stands with a clean, tidy and spacious apron.
Six acres of paved area provides sufficient space for container storage, while a Transit shed and a Container Freight Station enable us to handle consignees cargo efficiently.
Our Facility at Road Town, in the center of the capital, provides a total of 190 meters of berthing space, with a deck of 1.05 meters above sea level, and a depth of 3.65 meters of water alongside.
This passenger facility is primarily used to accommodate local ferries.
The length of the cruise pier 1,312ft and the width 60ft. The pier was reengineered and strengthened to facilitate vessels up to 180,000 GRT. The Tortola cruise pier can now facilitate all class of ships with the exception of the Oasis whose maximum tonnage exceeds 200,000 GRT, and facilitate two large ships at anchor in harbour. This allows the port to facilitate up to four cruise ships at a time. Ships tenders are accommodated at the tender pier adjacent to the cruise pier.
The turning basin 0.4 miles south southeast of the cruise pier has a radius exceeding 300 meters and a minimum depth of 11.3 meters. Tug assistance is rarely required for even the larger vessels manoeuvring in this area. The anchorage within the harbour is located in clean, calm and uncongested waters and just 0.5 miles from the Road Town Ferry Terminal.
Fun fact: The Pier, originally built in 1994, has undergone expansions in 1999 and 2015. Notably, on February 15, 2019, the Tortola Pier Park was renamed as the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park, marking a significant historical milestone.
The Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park a 5 acre landside development welcoming visitors and islanders to enjoy a unique outdoor shopping mall. The Authority’s main ferry terminal at Soper’s Hole accommodates a large volume of passenger traffic and light cargo moving between the British Virgin Islands and the United States Virgin Islands.
The terminal’s 97.56 meters of berthing space, with a depth of 3.05 meters of water alongside, includes one arrival and two departure berths.
Passenger arrival and departure halls, customs and immigration facilities and ferry ticketing offices are also provided at the terminal.
Expressions of interest were currently sought for by the Recovery and Development Agency for the Design & Construction of the West End Ferry Terminal which was destroyed during the 2017 Hurricanes.
The jetty at St. Thomas Bay, Virgin Gorda provides 201.22 meters of berthing space 2.75 meters of water alongside.
This accommodates ferry vessels, mini-cruise ships, container ships and barges.
The facilities are also furnished with a cargo shed and a passenger terminal which allows the Authority to better manage its activities in Virgin Gorda.
The Authority is also responsible for two wharves at Great Harbour, Jost van Dyke.
The larger of the two (Jetty #1), with 4.88 meters of depth alongside, serves as a landing area for passengers and light cargo, while the smaller wharf (Jetty #2), with 1.53 meters depth alongside, accommodates cruise ship tenders, inter-island ferries, and dinghies used by pleasure yachts anchored in Great Harbour.
