VACANCY NOTICE 8/2026

 

The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority is seeking mature, and highly motivated persons to join our Team in the following position:

MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST- AC Technician

                                               

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Certificate or equivalent

Certificate or equivalent in AC Operations and Maintenance

Three (3) years’ work experience in a related field

MUST have a valid driver’s license.

 

Job Description:

 

The air conditioning technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of all air conditioning units within the Authority.

Ventilate equipment and controls making sure they operate efficiently and continuously.

Perform regular maintenance work on cooling units.

Diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions.

Install, replace, or repair equipment that has been damaged.

Ensure adjustment and calibrations of thermostatic controls.

Installation of new air-conditioning systems and equipment.

Inspect and maintain refrigerators, and chilled water supply systems.

Clean blowers and coils, check tensions of belts and motors.

Ensure plans and designs of new air-conditioning systems including their installation and maintenance.

Execute a monthly preventative maintenance service program.

Liaison with contracted a/c repair and services companies during a/c service and repair.

Perform routine maintenance of A/C units at Port Facilities.

Prepare monthly reports.

Inspects all generators twice monthly and ensures that they are fueled to Capacity and servicing contractors are contacted immediately for any maintenance issues that are observed or reported.

 

Competencies:

 

Ability to understand electrical codes.

Sound knowledge of AC Operation

Excellent mathematical and analytical skills

Ability to care for and maintain tools and equipment assigned.

Sound oral, reading, and written communication skills

Sound interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in places where they are exposed to dust, fumes, noise, toxic materials, and high voltage equipment.

Ability to work in confined and hot spaces like roofs, crawl ways and attics.

Ability to work in adverse weather and may be required to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, kneel or stand

 

Salary:

Remuneration/ Benefits: Based on qualifications and experience.
