The BVI Ports Authority is the managing authority in the British Virgin Islands that is responsible for the maintaining and managing of the official seaports in the Territory. Understanding how this organisation is essential to the economy and movement of seafarers and cargo in the BVI is important. The ports authority has developed a Port Education Programme that is aimed at showing students how their everyday lives are connected to the port.

The programme will cover the following:

  • What is a port?
  • The BVIPA’s 3 main business anchors
  • Port careers
  • Partnering agencies and stakeholders
  • Ports and the economy

Additional materials and resources for the programme will be available, they will include, an activity book, crossword puzzles, supplemental videos, and a map.

Below you will find the introductory presentation followed by the first two units.
