BVIPA Celebrates Local Vendor’s Role with Wind Surf of Windstar Cruises

03 January 2024 – The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) is delighted to share the successful collaboration with local confectioner Ms. Jehree D. Clarke of JD’s Candies and Windstar Cruises. Ms. Clarke has recently been welcomed as a vendor for Windstar Cruises’ Wind Surf to deliver her signature coconut fudge when the ship calls to the British Virgin Islands. The coconut fudge will be added to the ship’s Turndown service when it departs the BVI.

Encouraging fellow entrepreneurs, Ms. Clarke said, “I want to take this opportunity to encourage entrepreneurs of any age to always ensure that your best work is presented to your clients. This opportunity arose from the BVI Ports Authority taking JD’s Candies’ peppermint candies to Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 as a treat for people visiting their booth. I never expected a cruise line representative to be interested, but that just goes to show that you never know whose hands your product might reach. Following up on potential opportunities is also very important, that is the real work, and this opportunity wouldn’t have been realised without efficient follow-up.”

Natasha Chalwell, the Marketing Director of the BVIPA, played a pivotal role in connecting JD's Candies with Windstar Cruises during last year's exhibition. Mrs. Chalwell remarked, "This collaboration exemplifies the power of seizing opportunities at industry events. Connecting local businesses like JD's Candies with global partners such as Windstar Cruises is a testament to the vibrant potential within our community. We are proud to celebrate the success of JD's Candies and reaffirm our commitment at the BVIPA to provide platforms for local businesses to showcase the cultural and culinary richness of the British Virgin Islands within the global cruise industry."

The BVI Ports Authority is pleased to announce the success of JD’s Candies, reinforcing our commitment to bolstering local businesses. This accomplishment underscores our dedication to spotlighting the unique charm and warm hospitality of the BVI within the cruise tourism community.
